With an inherited passion for home décor and a natural eye for aesthetics, it was inevitable that Melissa Levander would find her way into design.
After earning her degree in Art and Photography from the University of Texas in 1991, Melissa returned home to Los Angeles and set her sights on the art department in Hollywood. Now a veteran of the entertainment industry, she has become a highly respected and sought-after Set Decorator for film and television.
Melissa’s film credits include the upcoming Ben Affleck film *Animals*—which he starred in, directed, and produced—Jon Watts’ *WOLFS* starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, Robert Redford’s *The Conspirator*, the two-time Academy Award–winning *Little Miss Sunshine*, Ken Loach’s acclaimed *Bread & Roses*, and box-office favorites such as *The High Note*, *Made of Honor*, and *Friday After Next*.
Her television work is equally impressive, with credits that include the Apple TV+ series *Platonic* (Seasons 1 and 2), Netflix’s *You*, Marvel Studios’ *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.*, and popular series like *Private Practice*, *Gilmore Girls*, and *CSI: Miami*, among others.
Melissa’s love for design extends far beyond film sets. Having grown up accompanying her mother through fabric and furniture stores as she decorated model homes, Melissa developed a lifelong appreciation for interiors and space. Once established in the entertainment world, she turned her creative focus toward residential design buying, remodeling, and selling homes. Her talent lies in capturing the essence of a space and reflecting the personality of those who inhabit it, a skill she seamlessly translates from set decoration to real life.
Her distinctive style soon caught the attention of the celebrities she worked with. Melissa designed the classic 1928 Spanish-style home of *Private Practice* star Kate Walsh, which was featured in In Style magazine (November 2009). She is currently working on the home of singer and actress Idina Menzel, among other high-profile clients.
